How to Knot
Single Overhand Knot
The single overhand knot which is one of the easiest ways of placing safety knots between beads, like knotting between pearls. This knotting technique also helps to space beads evenly. However the types of knots you use will depend on the beads you have.
If your beads have large holes, you might want to use the Double Overhand Knot instead.
Steps
- With single overhand knot, you need to allow at least 2½ times or more of your desired finished length.
- Using wax thread or thread treated with conditioner will help when sliding your knots
| 1) Attach your fasterner at one end. Thread your first bead and make your overhand knot: wrap thread around your finger and take the end back through the loop. Do not tighten fully yet ... |
 |
| 2) Slide & Tighten: Put a strong, blunt needle into the knot. Use the needle to slide the knot back towards the bead. Tighten the knot and remove the needle as you tighten. |
 |
| 3) Continue this way - string a bead & make a knot between each bead. Keep spacing and tension even by sliding the each knot with the needle. |
