| Tools Needed

1) Start
off with a strung strand of beads. Beads are strung in the center section of thread and secured in place by either a knot at the end or crimped beads at each end of the beads.
You will need a sufficient length of thread extending past the beads on both sides of the row of beads - sufficient to complete your jewellery piece.

2) Now cut yourself a good length of thread. Using double threads will give you a more dramatic effect so make sure you cut a sufficiently long length as it has to be doubled up.
Double up the new strand in the middle and now we will add that to your original strung piece. Place it under one of the extension original thread.
3) Take the Left hand thread under the middle and then over the right thread. (Click on image for more details.) |

4) Take the Right thread back over the middle and under the left thread.
Pull knot snugly. |

| 5) Now reverse the process. Take the Left thread over the middle and under the right. |

6) Then the Right thread under the middle and over the left.
Pull knot snugly, keeping tension of your knots constant and even. |

Repeat steps 3-6 to create your decorative strand of flat reef knots.
Repeat the same process on the other side of your strung beads. |

| Additional Article: You can use a matching bead to create a Bead & Loop fastener for your piece. Otherwise, finish your project with a fastener of your choice. |
